These trucks have either three or four wheels and can operate in aisles as thin as 1.6m and to a racking height of 12m, assuming a high surface flatness and levelness and that there are no wide, stepped or uneven joints.
However, these trucks have a carrying limit of up to 1.5 tonnes (compared to the standard counterbalance truck which is up to 8 tonnes). Therefore, the choice between standard and articulated counterbalance trucks is a trade-off between versatility and load-carrying capacity.
